Coming at you once again with a book review and in this one, we’re gonna be looking at The Story of The Human Body Evolution by Daniel Lieberman, let’s go ahead and get into it.
Before we actually jump into the review here of the book and start talking about what my takeaways were from the book and all the things that I learned from the book I want to go ahead and give you the preface for the actual book.
This is a must-read book some of the things that I learned here and some of the things that I took away from the book, I I don’t understand why some of these things weren’t covered in my education.
I’ve taken biology in college and I took you know the regular curriculum stuff in high school some of the things I learned from the book were such at a low basic to level that I even started questioning my own education.
If books are not doing that for you there’s definitely some time you want to go ahead and I definitely start looking at different books. This book here discusses the story of the human body and evolution relating to how we are actually evolving as humans and that time so it kind of goes you know cosine gives you through the lineage of the human body so let’s go ahead and jump into.
The author is DR. Daniel Lieberman is the department chair of the department of human evolutionary biology at Harvard you’re welcome to look him up and learn more about him but he’s the author of the book and he definitely goes ahead and I give you some good insights as far as like the human body and the human body evolution.
Before we I started talking about the actual theory and the whole entire book and all of this is first you have to go ahead and accept the human evolution and we can’t talk about human evolution if you don’t talk about Charles Darwin.
You typically learned about in school and you first have to go ahead and accept this you know a free tool to move forward with the book or else we’re just doing in religion and you know we’re not going anywhere.
From there so you have to accept that and then you can move forward with the book if you mean if you don’t accept it is still good to receive different feedback on it human Revolution.
Homo sapiens they’re soaked all the types of evolution the human body has been going through and in the book, he actually goes and breaks down each one of them and gives you as far as the actual details and how they’re different from us.
Inside the book, he goes into each one of them and very interested in that kind of thing definitely check out the book he talks about this specifically.
We’re talking about specifically what the book says and you know quoting the book this is more towards kind of my takeaways that I got from the book.
One of them the big ones that I got was.
live fast and die young
I pulled this from the urban dictionary which is they tend to be rock stars glamorous rich or famous and have a tragic deaths live fast and die young live a good-looking corpse beauty beautiful death rock stars glamorous life.
Inside the book he goes ahead and talks about this from an evolutionary point of view, not just you’re gonna live fast and die young. I am like you would think about in modern day time but he goes and it talks about this how people would essentially die very young and they would have to reproduce at a fast rate in order for them to be able to pass on their genes.
This isn’t like a new thing so that’s my main takeaway that I got here is that live fast and die young isn’t just a song it isn’t just a thing it is it is literally a human evolution so there you go my other takeaway that I got here inside the book.
He goes then it talks about some of he talks about archaeology paleontology and physiology and one of the things that I that really interested me here was the actual tools so there is there’s a lot of discussions as far as like you know what’s the most optimal diet what you should be eating why you shouldn’t be eating all of these things there’s a lot of discussion going on there and there’s a bunch of people that will tell you to know do a keto diet do a low-power low carb diet do a Paleo diet do a vegan diet.
It’s fat bad trans fat like there’s all these different things now I’m not here to persuade you to go vegan now I’m not here to do that that’s not my job right I’m here just to tell you about in the book and the tools that were actually used to act go ahead and make some of this food consumable for the human body.
Like most people think about tools that you’re gonna go ahead and kill some sort of animal so you can go ahead and eat it and have a paleo diet that’s what that’s the right thought for the longest time right but if you actually look at the actual tools over 80% of them were used to process some sort of plant some sort of herb not to go and kill an animal.
Keep that in mind the book that’s one of the things that I liked about the book he didn’t say do paleo he didn’t say do vegan he didn’t say do keto he just said here’s the history right here’s the tools you go ahead and make your decision as far as what you want to eat so he was that in mind we don’t know more about specifically you know what they should be eating definitely check this book out.
It talks about the tools and then based on the tools you can derive whatever you want to go ahead and choose so up to you alright next part.
Here is this is probably one of my favorite parts of the book was that he goes ahead and talks about the anatomy of the body and not only the anatomy but how then atomy effects how we’re changing in time so one of the things it brings up is bipedal our ability to be able to walk.
I think and answer one question for me what you had for the longest time which was walking versus running you know which one should you choose should you be walking should you be running which was more optimal.
I had this question for many years and nobody was able to give me an answer to it this book did our bodies as humans are so effective at walking that you know running is only 30% more costing as far as calories per time so if you want to go ahead and go ahead and use up the most amount of calories in the least amount of time then go for run is better but if you want to go ahead and you know walk you know it’s it’s only 30% less effective than running so there you go.
I’ve always thought I had to go run but hey now we walk it might be just as good as you know 35 to 40 minute run so there you have it that was a big one for me bipedal so our ability to be able to walk on two feet.
The aging process he goes on and talks about the aging process of humans so why is it that kids take forever to age why is it that you know there’s a certain amount of time before they actually start walking before they start talking before they can get use the restroom on their own all these different things about as far as our aging process.
He goes on and talks about it and it gives details specifics you know all the way from inception to the pregnant female all the way up to being born all the way down to you know those early age and then down as you get older so aging process if you’re interested in that he definitely talks about that in extent so the other one here is small versus a big jaw this one actually this was actually really good.
I really like this one here small versus big jaw because there there’s this idea that you typically don’t want to use your mouth you don’t want to use your teeth as much as you want and in order for you to be able to get a jaw be able to form your mouth right you need to be able to actually use it.
Nowadays when I look at you know some of my nephew’s and they’re actually growing up and actually see some of these things it’s like they don’t then we use their mouth as much as they need to be using their mouth it could because all the food they’re consuming is just pretty processed.
Eating chicken nuggets is that really using your mouth compared to eating a raw carrot
Compare that which one’s gonna strain your mouth more a rock carrot or a piece of chicken nuggets so you know there’s there’s definitely um some mismatch diseases that actually show up because of this of not using your body to its potential and this is kind of like you know food that’s kind of pre-processed already you don’t have to work as hard to get some calories from it.
He talks about reproduction and then do what’s hard so yes and then the next party goes ahead and talks about its culture and how culture is actually affecting the way our bodies are actually evolving I won’t get too much into it but there definitely a big impact that culture has in the way we are currently evolving as a human species.
If you’re interested in that definitely check out the book and then lastly the last section that I have here for you is going to be about mix-match diseases.
There is a lot of a lot of things going on here and this is specifically why I wanted to record this article and do the book review on this on this book because more than likely one of us or a family member it’s going to be suffering from one of these things.
Whether it be overweight whether it be cancer or whether it be heart disease and I wanted to go to make this article specifically because there is going to be somebody that you know it might be you it might be loved one it might be somebody that’s you know important in your life that’s gonna suffer from one of these things and the reason why they’re gonna suffer for them is because these are mix-match mix-match diseases.
We can prevent these are the things that we can definitely work towards um you know not necessarily suffering from them but at the same time, you’re gonna suffer from them so it’s it’s best to know you know where how these things are actually happening.
Why is it that we’re getting type 2 diabetes why is it that we’re getting cancer why is there they were getting heart disease these are the difficult questions that this book doesn’t answer for you it doesn’t tell you to know these are the reasons.
I didn’t bring them to the table these are the things are happening based on the decision that we’re currently making and you know if you want to make if you want to make a change if you want to make the change from the decisions you’re making to the things you want to be having you have to realize that there’s a correlation from the stuff you’re currently doing to the things you’re gonna be suffering.
Right now I’m sitting on a chair this is hurting my back later during the day I might have some back pain or some neck pain and that is a hundred percent my fault because I’m deciding to sit compared to be standing up so there’s like all these different things you can do to prevent some of these things.
You know you are you gonna do them that’s that’s the tricky question alright so I’m gonna go ahead and cut this article short here.

This book is definitely something I’m gonna recommend over and over again to a lot of people I wish I would read this book when it was published or I wish I would have looked more into a human body and how it actually works.
Hey check that out I actually have a human body and they’re pretty much I’m gonna leave you with this in summary the book is essentially the base class to the human body and if you understand how the base class is composed you definitely want to see what’s in there what are the attributes what is actually doing and this book definitely gives you a good starting point now it isn’t they’ll all be all answers to everything.
It will give you the insight for you to be able to do your own research on whatever it is that you’re currently interested in what I recommend this book highly recommend it if you or if you have these other questions that you have not been able to answer about your own body as far as like you know walking versus running that type of thing definitely check this book out its must-read!
